Overview:
Eight training sessions on “Capacity Listing and GESI-related Capacity Understanding Training for Group of Teachers and Group of Students” were held in 8 schools of 5 upazilas of Cox’s Bazar district. The main objective of the training was to improve teachers’ and students’ understanding of power lists, gender sensitivity, and GESI (Gender Equality and Social Inclusion)- related capabilities. A total of 184 participants participated in the training, including 91 female and 93 male teachers and students.
The core of the training:
Promoting gender-sensitive approaches: Increasing the knowledge of teachers and students on gender equality and social inclusion.
Social inclusion: ensuring that students from diverse backgrounds (according to gender, disability, ethnicity, or socio-economic status) are given equal opportunities.
Creation of participatory learning environment: To teach methods for teachers to ensure active participation of students and take effective steps to remove their inhibitions.
Objectives of the training:
- To enhance the understanding and capacity building of GESI among teachers and students.
- Creating a healthy perspective on gender equality and social inclusion in the school environment.
- To enable teachers to create such an inclusive learning environment.
In addition, the training has increased awareness of social inclusion and gender equality among students, so that they can study in a more equal and inclusive environment in the future. This strengthens the RDRS Bangladesh initiative, which will play an important role in promoting gender equality and social inclusion in the Cox’s Bazar region.
