Overview
RDRS Bangladesh organized two school-level capabilities campaigns at Chainda Govt. Primary School, Ramu and Inani Govt. Primary School, Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar, under the project “Promoting Gender Equality and Social Inclusion in Schools Building on What Children Value and Aspire to Do and Be.” The event brought together education officials, teachers, LIKE Club members, and project staff to observe and review the club’s progress in promoting value-based learning and inclusion through the Children Valued Educational Capabilities (CVEC) approach.
The District Primary Education Officer inaugurated the LIKE Club during the visit. After the inauguration, club members introduced themselves and shared their roles and enthusiasm for promoting positive school environments and peer support. The session began with an introduction to the LIKE Club’s mission, vision, and objectives, followed by an explanation of members’ roles and responsibilities. A presentation on the CVEC initiative was then delivered, highlighting its focus on developing students’ capabilities. The discussion also covered the 16 Capability List and its importance in promoting students’ well-being and inclusion. Students actively participated by presenting CVEC-related activities and sharing their learning experiences.
Objectives
- To assess the progress of LIKE Club activities under the CVEC campaign.
- To review the use of participatory tools such as the Activity Book for Teachers and 16 Capability List.
- To strengthen collaboration among education officials, teachers, and students in promoting gender equality and social inclusion.
- To collect feedback for improving and sustaining capability-based learning practices.
Discussion Highlights
LIKE Club members addressed their leadership and teamwork through various capability-based activities. Teachers expressed their experiences using the Activity Book for Teachers to integrate values and inclusion into classroom lessons. The Project Manager highlighted the 16 Capability List as a framework for developing empathy, confidence, and responsibility among students.
Education officials praised students’ active engagement and teachers’ commitment to participatory learning. The discussions emphasized that the CVEC approach enables students to identify their valued capabilities and apply them in everyday life. Teachers also mentioned challenges such as limited resources and time, for which RDRS Bangladesh assured continued technical support.

The event encouraged stronger collaboration between teachers, education officials, and RDRS Bangladesh to ensure sustainability of the LIKE Club initiatives. Participants recognized that activities guided by the 16 Capability List contribute to students’ overall growth and help create a more inclusive and supportive school environment. Moving forward, continued documentation, mentoring, and community engagement will be key to strengthening the impact of this initiative across other schools in the district.
